"System.IO.FileNotFoundException: The system cannot find the file specified"  which file ?
Hi we are currently using WSS 3.0 Recently we have been seeing the following error in our event log: System.IO.FileNotFoundException: The system cannot find the file specified. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070002) at Microsoft.SharePoint.Library.SPRequestInternalClass.GetFileAsByteArray(String bstrUrl, String bstrWebRelativeUrl, Boolean bHonorLevel, Byte iLevel, OpenBinaryFlags grfob) at Microsoft.SharePoint.Library.SPRequest.GetFileAsByteArray(String bstrUrl, String bstrWebRelativeUrl, Boolean bHonorLevel, Byte iLevel, OpenBinaryFlags grfob) at Microsoft.SharePoint.SPFile.GetFileContent(SPOpenBinaryOptions openOptions) at Microsoft.SharePoint.SPFile.OpenBinary(SPOpenBinaryOptions openOptions) at Microsoft.SharePoint.SPFile.OpenBinary() From the looks of it, it appears SharePoint is looking for an assembly. Can someone provide some pointers please on how to determine exactly what file or assembly it is looking for? Thanks

Hi Pigsie, What is the version of your WSS 3.0? Try to follow below steps to delete the “Microsoft.SharePoint.Search.Administration.SPSearchService” entry in the registry. Then check the effect. 1. On the Start menu, click Run. In the Open box, type regedit and then click OK. 2. In the Registry Editor, navigate to the following subkey, and then delete it: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Web Server Extensions\12.0\WSS\Services\Microsoft.SharePoint.Search.Administration.SPSearchService 3. Run the SharePoint Products and Technologies Configuration Wizard again. IMPORTANT: This article contains information about modifying the registry. Before you modify the registry, make sure to back it up and make sure that you understand how to restore the registry if a problem occurs. For information about how to back up, restore, and edit the registry, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: 256986.KB.EN-US: Description of the Microsoft Windows Registry http://support.microsoft.com/ID=256986 Hope this is helpful to you.
